COACHES:
NOMINATE A SPRING SPORTS ATHLETE FOR THE SHEETZ AWARD!
The Sheetz Family Award of Excellence was established by the Sheetz Family to honor the outstanding sporting achievements, sportsmanship, and perseverance of our Special Olympics athletes. This prestigious award is open to all athletes who participated in the 2025 spring season. The winner will be announced at the Victory Dance at Summer Games! To nominate an athlete, please complete and submit the form by Friday, May 23rd. Please provide as much information, details and examples as possible so that the Sheetz Selection Committee has the best understanding of each athlete’s story. Delegations and coaches are welcome to nominate multiple athletes.
VOLUNTEERING
PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST REWARDING EXPERIENCES YOU'LL HAVE IN YOUR LIFE!!
Volunteering with our program is a wonderful opportunity for any students or adults who enjoy working with individuals with special needs, or who may need community service hours or are planning to pursue a career in education. Volunteering can be anything from a one day event, to year round! With the number of sports we offer in Area M, we are always in need of coaches and volunteers.
To become a volunteer, there is a process that you will need to go through that includes background checks, clearances, and a few (simple and quick) online 'courses' that you will need to complete. There is no cost to you for this process. We are happy to help you through it. If you have any difficulties with the process, or any questions, John Brownson with the Capital Area Region will be happy to walk you through everything. (jbrownson@specialolympicspa.org)
